Sailability's Return to Sailing

From July 13th, Sailability Tasmania will be recommencing sailing for members and volunteers only.

From September 1st, Sailability Tasmania plans to offer sailing activities to participants from support organisations and to sailors with higher needs.

Sailability will implement a number of precautionary measures to minimise risk for our sailors, however participants should be aware that the decision of whether or not to sail is theirs to make. We also encourage people who are immunocompromised or over 70 (the age stated in Tas Gov guidelines) to make an informed decision on when to resume sailing.

If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, stay at home and call the Public Health Hotline: 1800 671 738

  • Fever

  • Coughing, a sore throat or fatigue

  • Shortness of breath

From July 13th

Our Keelboats:

  • Members who wish to take out a boat in Hobart should contact Julie, our bookings officer at
0438 736 256. Click here to look at our booking calendar to see availability.

  • A maximum of 6 participants will be allowed on each boat.

  • Participants should stay 1.5 metres apart, whenever it is safe and practical to do so, such as when setting up/packing up. (Our boats are not large enough for six people to maintain this distance, however it is not a requirement for the recreational use of keelboats.)

  • Participants must write their names in the log book supplied on each boat.

  • Participants are encouraged to wash their hands at the marina amenities building before and after sailing.

  • Hand sanitiser will be available on each boat.

Our Hansa Dinghies:

  • Hansa sailing in Hobart will be organised based on the number of interested participants in these cold winter months. If you are keen on dinghy sailing, contact Julie, our bookings officer:
    0438 736 256

  • Volunteers and participants should stay 1.5 metres apart, whenever it is safe and practical to do so.

  • Only one sailor per Hansa dinghy.

  • Hand sanitiser will be available in the storage shed.

  • An attendance list of both volunteers and participants will be made for each sail.
